Museumpark

The Museumpark in Rotterdam is a large green area in the city center that houses several museums.

It was once the estate of the Van Hoboken family, well-known shipowners in Rotterdam. In 1852, they built Villa Dijkzigt, which still stands today and is home to one of the museums in the park.

Within the Museumpark, you’ll find museums such as Boijmans van Beuningen, Depot, Kunsthal, Natural History Museum, Het Nieuwe Instituut, Chabot Museum, and Sonneveld House.

The park also features sculptures by Dutch artists, a Greek chapel, a rose garden, a pond, and a memorial monument to G.J. de Jongh, who played a significant role in the development of Rotterdam’s port. The inscriptions on this monument were created by Henk Chabot.

There’s also an underground parking area with a rainwater drainage system for the city’s basements and canals.

Above the parking area, there’s a spacious event space where activities like De Parade (a traveling theater festival), markets, concerts, and other events take place.

Museumpark can be easily accessed from Eendrachsingel Metro station.
