Dakpark

Welcome to Dakpark, a rooftop park in Rotterdam.

Dakpark is not only situated at a height of 9 meters, but it also stretches over a kilometer in length and is about eighty meters wide. This makes it one of the largest rooftop parks in Europe. The park is built on top of a commercial boulevard.

Designed by the agency Buro Sant & Co, Dakpark was officially opened in 2013 after more than thirteen years of planning and development.

Within the park, you’ll find grassy areas, trees, shrubs, and designated spots for barbecuing. There are also water stairs that are 70 meters long and 7 meters wide, with water flowing down them at a rate of 200,000 liters per hour.

The park is divided into three zones. In the central zone, there’s a Mediterranean garden with a greenhouse that houses a restaurant. The park’s section near Marconiplein has a playground with equipment for children to play on. And in the Hudsonplein area, a community garden has been created for residents, complete with a vegetable garden, farm animals, and fruit hedges.

The Dakpark Foundation works with volunteers and residents to maintain the park and manage the community garden, contributing to the social well-being of the neighborhood.

The park is open from 7 am to 11 pm during the summer and from 7 am to 10 pm in winter.
