Luchtpark Hofbogen

Park on the Railway Line

Luchtpark Hofbogen is another elevated park in Rotterdam that also deserves mention. It is located on the roof of a viaduct above the former railway line between Rotterdam and The Hague. This viaduct has been out of use since 2010.

Beneath the 1.9 km-long viaduct, shops, offices, and restaurants have been created. On the first section of the long rooftop, located on top of the former Hofplein station, a public park has been built: Luchtpark Hofbogen.

The Luchtpark was designed by the architecture firm ZUS, which also designed Luchtsingel, the bridge that provides access to the park from the city center.

So far, a vegetable garden has been planted, with fruit trees. There is also space for picnics or simply walking around the area with views over the city.

Cultural events are regularly held in the park, such as open-air film screenings, festivals, and other performances.

The park is open to everyone every day from 10:00 a.m. until sunset.
