Rotterdam is home to several museums. Among them are the Boymans van Beauningen, the Maritime Museum and the Kunsthal.
The relationship between the city and modern times is evident in its impressive architecture. The high buildings on Weena Avenue stand out, with office and apartment blocks, typical examples of business-oriented architecture.
The Cube Houses complex is another construction that should be mentioned. A model apartment can be visited to get an idea of what daily life is like in a building with such unique features.
Surroundings
In the surroundings of Rotterdam there are many towns with an enormous history, and charming villages.

Architecture
After the liberation, it was decided to go for modern architecture. Rotterdam became a testing ground.

Sculptures
The city is a true artistic space with numerous sculptures around the place. There is something for everyone.

More recently built are the Markthal and the Depot van Beuningen, large buildings that house a market, and an art storage facility respectively.
A structure that follows artistic tradition is the spectacular Erasmus Bridge, an abstract combination of steel and concrete. For people who love heights, the Euromast with its 185 meters is ideal.
Rotterdam continues to offer itself as an experimental city for architects and urban designers to put their innovative ideas into practice.
If we want to get an idea of Rotterdam’s glorious years, there are reviews of historic architecture waiting to be discovered in the city; City Hall, Chamber of Commerce, The Central Post Office and Het Schielandshuis.

Despite the destruction during the war, some buildings from the past managed to remain standing.

In addition to the large harbor located at the mouth of the river, there are several docks within the city center.

For years Rotterdam has been immersed in a project called Rotterdam International Sculpture Collection which has taken shape in various places around the city. More than 200 public sculptures can be found in the city.
The city is full of canals and divided by the Maas River and along with all that water, it has more than 850 pedestrian and cyclist bridges. In addition, Rotterdam has many green areas where you can spend sunny days with your family or practice some sports.
One of the most popular tourist areas is today’s Rotterdam neighborhood, Delfshaven. This picturesque area dates to the 14th century.
Parks
Rotterdam is the greenest city in the Netherlands. More than 20% of the city’s surface is green area.

Bridges
Rotterdam is a water city and its center, with its rivers Schie, Rotte and canals, has numerous bridges.

Harbour
The large amount of goods passing through Rotterdam, give credence to its name; Europoort (Gateway to Europe).
