What do I need to work in the Netherlands?
If you are an EU national, you can reside and work without issues. You will only need:
- A valid passport or ID card
- Apply for your BSN number (social security number in the Netherlands)
What is considered a good salary in the Netherlands?
A good gross monthly salary is between €2,500 and €3,333 (between €30,000 and €40,000 annually).
After taxes, it equals around €2,159 – €2,613 net per month. (Data as of July 2024)
How is the workday in the Netherlands?
Generally, the working hours are continuous, from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, with a half-hour break for lunch.
In many companies, it’s possible to negotiate your start time.
How many hours are worked per week in the Netherlands?
The usual workweek is 40 hours, though many companies work 36 hours or less.
How long does it take to get a job in the Netherlands?
It depends on whether you search through an agency or directly. On average, it may take between 4 and 6 weeks, with a bit of luck.
How are work conditions for foreigners in the Netherlands?
In principle, they should be the same as for local workers.
Is it hard to find a job in Rotterdam without speaking Dutch?
